The Handbook is a quick plain language review of both the emotional aspects of divorce and law and court procedures. The appendices include a glossary, recommended books for adults and children, relevant websites, and list of agencies to refer divorcing clients to. Some folks who consult me think that their choice is between a mediator and a lawyer. How can I explain that those using mediation need a lawyer as well? A whole chapter discusses the choice of decision-making methods and uses plain language to explain the vital role of a lawyer's advice during mediation.
